How to Make an Instagram Video Ad For Your Business

Are you ready to start using videos for your instagram ads? Let’s talk all about it and analyze different Instagram ads to see what others are creating so that you can get ideas to create your own!

I’m going to walk you through how to create an Awareness Ad. These ads consist of three things:

  1. They point out a problem and your business becomes the solution.

  2. They take a fresh newbie who knows nothing about your business and transform them into a person who really wants to learn more.

  3. They say enough unique things to peak the customer’s curiosity.

Pattern:

  • Choose 7-11 pictures or videos that tell a storyline about your business

  • Put text over it

  • Add music or narration

  • Voila!

Here are Six Awareness Ads, how they work, and how you can use it for your business.

  1. Light and Airy Photography

  • An Image Only Ad

  • Basic

  • Ad consists of a slide of pictures that tell a story.

Picture 1: instagram pictures unedited

Picture 2: click once & pictures become edited

Picture 3: shows 10% off sale

Picture 4: how your account can have all the same filters

Picture 5: shows coupon code (Incentive)

Picture 6 & 7: gives another filter example

  • This Ad’s problem: My photos don't look good. Editing takes forever.

  • This Ad’s solution: Editing is that easy. And it looks great!

  • This Ad’s Incentive: “Oh, and btw…here’s a sale”

2. Writers Work App

  • Stock Footage + Motion Graphics

  • Basic Layout

  • 9 shots: alternate blank backgrounds with stock footage

They probably used stock videos and googled “pretty woman typing on a beach” then hired someone from Fiverr to make motion graphics.

  • The problem: they need writers (aka, it’s a hiring ad)

  • The Solution: I could get paid to write!

3. Video Husky

  • Stock Footage + Motion Graphics

  • 10 Shots: stock footage and graphics on every slide

First part: you have tons of footage and it’s stressful

Second part: we take the stress away and do it for you!

Third part: bonus revisions

Fourth part: here’s the price

Fifth part: you only have to click to learn more

Sixth part: we’ll show you the next step!

  • Problem: I have tons of footage and need it to be polished.

  • Solution: They do the editing for me! It’s 100% stress free! I can ask for as many revisions as I want!

4. Daily Harvest

  • Custom shot video that probably took one afternoon

  • Could have shot on a DSL or iPhone

  • 11 shots: video, narrated voiceover, and text graphics

First part: Emily drinking a smoothie

Second part: slow zoom into the blender with ingredients

Third part: reversed smoothie contents pouring into blender

Fourth part: Emily looking into the fridge

Fifth part: smoothie contents pouring into blender

Sixth part: smoothie getting blended

Seventh part: smoothie types on display

  • If you can think of 11 shots that can display your business, then that's all you need!

  • Problem: No time to get your own groceries and make meals

  • Solution: Order our healthy smoothies & get them delivered to your door!

  • Incentive: First three smoothies are free

Aim for 7-11 shots total

5. Lively

  • Strapless bra, i definitely bought from this ad

  • Video, music, text

  • 7 shots: easy to film and whip together

Shot 1: a lot of women grabbing bras off a table

Shot 2: can your bra bend?

Shot 3: can it roll up?

Shot 4: a woman dancing in it without it falling down

Shot 5: dropping the bra and it standing up saying “dropping now”

Shot 6: the woman dancing in it again

Shot 7: a still shot of the bras

  • Problem: strapless bras fall down really easily and they are a pain to pack because they don’t bend or roll up

  • Solution: Our strapless bras can! And you can dance in it–no problem–without it falling down!

  • Incentive: They make the ad fun and engaging and present the problem really well.

6. Vessi Footwear

  • Repurposed video + text

  • 7 shots: video, text, and music

Shot 1: literally wrote the problem and solution in first graphics

Shot 2: announcing the brand new shoe

Shot 3: showing their versatility

Shot 4: walk through a water fountain–no problem!

Shot 5: show several different situational images and examples of how well they work

Shot 6: “Leave the rubber boots at home”

Shot 7: End with the logo

  • Problem: Are you tired of wet socks?

  • Solution: This is the first 100% waterproof shoe.

  • Incentive: What cool technology! You don’t have to wear rubber boots anymore, you can wear fashionable shoes and still stay dry!

Conclusion

  • 7-10 videos

  • throw in some photos

  • add some text

  • talk about the problem your customers are facing

  • hit just enough points so they’re interested to “learn more”
